The Firm represented an attorney formerly employed by another law firm. The Law Firm refused to pay our client approximately $250,000.00 in wages owed in 2021. We sent written demand to the Law Firm for payment to be issued to our client, but the Law Firm refused to issue payment on the wages, claiming they were not owed. As such, we filed suit on April 5, 2022. Despite multiple delays throughout the litigation, including the Law Firm interim writ appeal to the Louisiana Supreme Court, unsuccessfully, attempting to recuse the presiding Judge, the Firm took the case to trial, which resulted in a successful verdict in favor of our client for all past due wages, penalty wages assessed against the Law Firm for bad faith under Louisiana’s Unpaid Wage statute, and attorney fees assessed against the Law Firm totaling $383,469.26 including judicial interest to date. We are pleased and proud that despite many delays we were able to get this case to initial judgment at the trial court level on behalf of our client.
